Juneteenth commemorates the date in 1865 when news of the emancipation of African American slaves reached Galveston, Texas. The official name of federal holiday is Juneteenth National Independence Day, also called Emancipation Day, Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, Black Independence Day, and Juneteenth Independence Day. We will have a host of activities including a Stage with a Live DJ and Live Entertainment, Food Court, Kid’s Zone, Community Health Fair, Black Business Marketplace Area, Local Artists & Entertainment, African Face and Body Painting, Games, Giveaway's & More! This event is FREE & open to ALL as we celebrate our freedom, our community and our heritage.
